Our Strength is our Personnel

We are a small group and have a mix of very experienced geologists and technologists with young but well trained geologists and technologists. This mix fits our horizontal drilling specialty where, usually, there is a team of two.

We have been in the forefront of horizontal technology since 1989 and have supervised over 3000 laterals throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Montana, North Dakota and Europe.

In addition, we have vast experience in vertical drilling of most fields throughout the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and various basins worldwide.

Our method of horizontal geological supervision involves:

  • A strong team work approach involving all field personnel.
  • Establishing a relationship with the operator, studying project information and advising on possible modifications to proposed plans.
  • Where possible, conducting core and log studies paying particular attention to facies changes, markers, pay boundaries and structure.
  • Drilling build section establishing a strong rapport with drilling and directional personnel, attempt to land casing shoe such that pay will be maximized in the lateral section.
  • Drilling lateral with teamwork emphasis, keeping up to the minute detailed cross section, analyzing samples, immediately evaluating any changes in samples, penetration rate, gamma or mud gas, maintaining close communication with operator.
  • Upon completion of drilling, evaluating pay, delivering samples and, where required, meeting with operator to evaluate operation and deliver final reports.
  • Through our knowledge of the reservoir and the principles of directional drilling, we try to maximize the pay section by setting up a well path where we can rotate as much as possible. Wells which we supervise are drilled faster, cheaper and with more pay section than those supervised by geologists with less experience, training or skill.
